The First Paved Road in the US

Petroleum Service Company

Fun Fact! The first paved road in the United States was created back in 1909 and was a one-mile stretch of concrete just outside of Detroit, Michigan. The section of Woodward Avenue between Six Mile Road and Seven Mile Road was the first to be made a paved highway, with the rest of the 27 mile road following suit 7 years later. It was also the first street to have a three color traffic light installed in 1919!
