The History of Gasoline

Petroleum Service Company

Gasoline is the fuel used in most of the light vehicles across the United States. However, it was initially discarded as a waste product of Kerosene distillation! The first crude oil well was dug in Pennsylvania in 1859 by Edwin Drake. He used the oil to produce kerosene for lighting and discarded the by-products, including gasoline as he had no use for them. It wasn't until the invention of the automobile that the value of gasoline was recognized.
