The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) was created as a part of the Clean Air Act of 1970. The EPA mandated that all the diesel vehicles running on the road, manufactured on or after 1st January 2010, must reduce NOx emissions in the air. In order to comply with this regulation, the most commonly used product is Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF).
The Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) is a non-toxic, non-hazardous solution of urea and purified (deionized) water. It is composed of 32.5% urea and 67.5% purified water. It is a liquid injected into the exhaust stream of diesel vehicles to reduce the harmful emissions in the air.
DEF chemically reacts with the NOx gases being released by the diesel vehicles. NOx compounds are broken down into harmless nitrogen and water, which are then released into the atmosphere. This system is known as Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) and is implemented by all diesel vehicle manufacturers to meet the EPA emission Standards of 2010.
The DEF is stored in a separate insulated tank in the diesel vehicles marked by a blue cap. The DEF tank in the vehicle must be refilled regularly.
The Diesel Exhaust Fluid dispenser pumps are used at fuel stations to offer DEF along with the diesel to vehicle owners. The dispenser pumps allow customers coming to a fuel station to fill up both diesel fuel and DEF as well, without the need to move their vehicle. This saves valuable time for the customers.
The flow meter used by the dispenser pumps accurately measures the quantity of DEF, and is integrated with a POS (Point of Sale).
The DEF dispenser pumps are specifically designed and engineered to keep the temperature at an optimal level, and at the same time, prevent crystallization of the urea present in the DEF.
If you are the owner of a gas station, it is crucial to get your DEF equipment maintained at regular intervals of time. Getting any minor or major issues with the DEF pump fixed in a timely manner will ensure no downtime for customers looking for Diesel Exhaust Fluid.

Vehicle owners prefer a fuel station that is a one-stop destination for everything. Selling DEF along with fuel will ensure that your pumping station becomes a single point of contact for all vehicle owners.
Here are some reasons why it is important to get the DEF dispenser system at your fuel station repaired immediately.
